131,000 sf 4-story medical center on a 5-acre site in
Northwest Summerlin was very much needed for its
burgeoning community’s health needs.
Included is a 15,000 sf outpatient surgery center, a 5,000
sf urgent care center, a 12,000 sf cath lab, a 7,000 sf
imaging center, 2,500 sf of retail space, and coffee kiosk.
Nurse Carolyn May Hospital and Medical Office Building
The 300 bed, 350,000 sf hospital employing 500 staff
members. The two 115,000 sf medical office buildings
were designed to create a unique medical center on a 40
acre site.
Program elements included an oversized emergency
room to heighten the level of service, ten delivery rooms,
a state-of-the-art radiology department and surgery
center, oversized family care suites, top of the line
care ICU/CCU units, a general service lab with facilities
for phlebotomy/2 blood drawing stations, specimen
processing center, chemistry work center, serology,
urinalysis, hematology center, blood bank storage and
grossing room. Cost $105 million. |
United Caribbean University (UCU) Advanced Dental Education Building
This 2 story, 40,000 sf complex serves two purposes both
teaching through the classroom setting and in a dental
practice/surgery setting for the students, employees and
the community.
On the main level are two closed operatories and 64
open operatories designed in pods of eight dental chairs,
with each pod specializing in a specific area of dentistry
including pediatric, ortho, endo and perio dentistry.
Supporting the operatories are administrative areas,
consultation rooms, a wet lab and patient service areas
for dental imaging, a CT scanner and Pan Cephalograph
for diagnostic imaging. The second floor is primarily
devoted to distance learning classrooms.
Public spaces are designed to be separated from the
functional, clinical space where dental procedures and
support activities occur and are defined with a series of
nested canopies which provide shade and define the
main entry. The lobby and waiting area are separated by
a glazed interior partition, which also includes a garden
area. Cost $13 million.
